What is...

dance studio insurance?

A dance studio is more than just a place to teach, it’s your livelihood. But even the most creative spaces need protection from life’s unexpected stumbles.

Dance studio insurance can cover your business against risks like accidents, damaged equipment, or liability claims, so you can focus on helping your students shine.

A Bionic, we make finding the right cover easy. Whether your studio is all about ballet, hip-hop, or fitness classes, we’ll help you compare quotes and get insurance that fits your needs.

What type of dance studios are covered?

No matter the style or setup of your dance studio, it’s likely we can help. We can arrange cover for the majority of studios, including:

  • Ballet and modern dance schools
  • Street dance and hip-hop studios
  • Yoga/Pilates studios
  • Fitness spaces like Zumba or aerobics studios
  • Studios that host performances or competitions
  • Spaces hired out to self-employed dance instructors

Can’t find your studio listed? It's likely we can still help. Start a quote online and a member of our insurance team will be on hand to help.

Find out why your business needs insurance from Les, our Business Comparison Expert.

What doesn’t it cover?

While dance studio insurance provides a wide range of cover, there are some exclusions, including:

  • Intentional damage – Damage caused on purpose isn’t covered.
  • Neglect – Losses due to lack of maintenance, such as failing to fix faulty equipment, may void your policy.
  • General wear and tear – Normal ageing or wear on your equipment or flooring is excluded.

Double-check your policy details or speak to our team if you have any questions about what’s covered and what isn’t.

Are there any exclusions to shop insurance?

When sorting your shop insurance, it’s important to check for any policy exclusions so you can take out any extra cover if necessary. Look out for the following exclusions:

  • Manual work away – Shops insurance provides cover on your specific premises, so if any of your income comes from work away from the premises – say you run a showroom for fitted wardrobes and installation is part of your business – you may need extra cover.
  • Break-ins and damage to property – Your insurer will specify the security measures you need to have in place as part of your property and may not pay out on claims made for theft that have been as a result of doors or windows being unlocked. You should check your insurance documentation carefully to make sure you comply with the security required for your property.
  • Serving food - If you cook and serve food from your shop, your public liability insurance should cover you for any potential illness caused by your cooking. But you may need additional insurance to cover the extra risk posed by equipment like fryers.

How much does dance studio insurance cover cost?

Because all dance studios are different, it’s difficult to give a solid figure for what you’ll be paying for this insurance without speaking to a broker. This is because your business is unique, and prices depend on a number of factors, including:

  • Extent of cover — The more cover you opt for, the more expensive your package will likely be.
  • Your insurer — Depending on who is willing to insure you, the price for their policies will vary.
  • Location — The location of your business is taken into consideration when calculating the cost of your premiums.
  • Claims history — If you’ve made a previous claim on your policy or had claims made against you, it may affect your future premiums.
